What energizes you as you consider the future of the arts in Wisconsin?
I feel that a profound shift in perception has occurred, particularly in the wake of the pandemic. When I first began teaching, the Arts were often seen as expendable, facing constant threats of budget cuts. However, the recent challenges taught us the undeniable significance of the arts in nurturing mental health, especially for children.
Being on the front lines, I’ve witnessed firsthand how the Arts provide a powerful lifeline and inspiration during uncertain times. As our world slowly changes, I’m hopeful that the right people are recognizing the essential role of the arts in our society. This newfound understanding fuels my commitment to championing the arts and ensuring they remain integral to our communities, schools, and beyond.
