Aria Rose
Interdisciplinary Artist
I make art impulsively and am greatly inspired by post-impressionism & folk art. I love capturing the beautiful banality of everyday life. Working with terracotta clay, I focus on alternative finishing methods; dipping pots in a white slip so that I can draw, paint or carve unique designs on each piece, resulting in handmade pottery with a touch of nostalgia, and a nod to your grandma’s china you grew up with. When not busy in my home studio, you can find me out in the garden or at the beach with my son, Arlo — who also loves to get covered in clay in the ceramics studio. I also dabble in painting, printmaking and my other job is a wedding photographer.

What energizes you as you consider the future of the arts in Wisconsin?
I’m energized thinking of public art spaces in Wisconsin, leading community classes, volunteering in elementary schools more to do art projects with kids, and bringing art & beauty into everyday projects and buildings again.
